ATSC 3.0 Encryption
Several ATSC 3.0 streams are now encrypted, which means they are unavailable to some viewers and hardware configurations. If you've clicked on a set of "pink colored" call letters above designating the station, the station you picked is known to be encrypted, at least sometimes.
​
This form of encryption is called "content protection" or "Digital Rights Management" (DRM). DRM is encryption designed to prevent behavior the content provider doesn't like, such as fast-forwarding through ads or recording content. It is explained to viewers as preventing piracy when it actually eliminates the viewer's control. The result of the encryption, when your equipment allows you to view the station's signal clearly, is the situation currently seen on most ATSC 3.0 signals that are encrypted.

Please contact your US representatives and US Senators to object to this encryption of your local channels. You may lose the ability to view severe weather information, your local newscasts, and the programming of the networks and local stations that you've been able to view free of charge with an antenna for over 70 years!

The Indianapolis, IN market, is positioned in the center of the state, but since the digital conversion, stations have trouble reaching the outer areas of the state. The analog signals of the major Indianapolis market could reach into areas at least with a grade B or C signal, whereas the digital signal has a grade A or nothing probability of receiving a signal.
Click on the coverage area of each station and if you fall within the circular coverage area, you'll have a better chance of receiving the station you're seeking. Even from within the coverage area, your reception will depend on your antenna placement, your antenna's directionality, and your area's geography.
The Indianapolis stations have begun the transition to Next Gen TV, or ATSC 3.0. They have a cooperative transmitter point on the tower previously broadcasting WTTK that was licensed to Kokomo, Indiana. The tower is located in the northwestern tower farm area of Indianapolis giving the metro a Grade A signal and just barely reaching Kokomo with a Grade A signal.
